E-Learning is any type of learning that can be done through the internet and electronic media. . There are some principles that will enhance the learning experience in such a classroom. As an assignment, we created our own e-learning classroom which includes some of these principles. For example, segmentation is the process of taking a lot of information and breaking it down into smaller chunks. By doing this, a learner is able to break down the material in small sizes therefore avoiding overload. I segmented my e-learning by breaking the lesson into several manageable parts. In addition to segmentation, personalization is shown by having choices so the learner can skip parts that they already know or go back to a slide if they don’t understand what is being asked or taught. Also, in the storyboard, I chose audio on most of the clips, but the speaker did not read what the learner would be reading but talked about the lesson at hand. Audio can be helpful in an e-learning, however too much as just explained can cause the learner to be distracted and not being able to enhance their critical thinking. To avoid the redundancy within the lesson, a great e-learning trick is to be sure to explain pictures in the lesson. The learner does not need to have pictures that make no sense to what they are learning. It is important to consider, to provide effective, immediate feedback in the e-learning classroom. In my storybook, I provided students with a rubric for students to follow which will be filled out by the instructor therefore providing some constructive feedback on how to improve on their lesson. All of these principles enhance learning and give way to a learner’s increase in critical thinking skills.
